Every route in our library begins with a physical drive. We put tires on the road, note the quality of pavement, time the pull-offs, photograph the elevation shifts at different hours, and sit with locals long enough to hear what they actually think is worth seeing.

Field notes are then cross-referenced against regional historical records, state highway commission archives, and conversations with rangers, innkeepers, and small-town librarians who hold institutional knowledge that no algorithm captures. We treat local expertise as primary source material.

Before publication, route data is reviewed for seasonal accuracy and road condition changes. We update guides whenever conditions meaningfully shift — not on a content calendar schedule.

if-llc is a small limited liability company with a single operational focus: the documentation of American travel routes. We are not a media company, a booking platform, or a content aggregator. We produce route guides, and that is the entirety of what we do.

The team is intentionally lean — researchers, writers, and drivers who care about the craft of place-writing and the practical utility of a good directions page. Being small means we move slowly enough to be accurate and stay close enough to the work to stand behind every word.
